In this warmer, you are encouraging the students to be a bit rebellious and break the rules!

Procedure

  1. (slide 2) Show the class the first example and ask them to tell you what has happened (a student has drawn a picture in their coursebook). You could teach them the word doodle if it doesn’t come up.
  2. (slide 3 to 8) Show them the other examples and ask them to describe what they see.
  3. (slide 8) Ask them to look through their coursebook and find a page where they can do their own doodle.
  4. Then can then show their drawing to their partner and describe what they have drawn.
