Here’s my first social media post of 2024…

I don’t normally post things like this on social media (I don’t normally post much of anything, to be honest, but more on that another time) but as it’s the first month of a new year, I’m asking myself what 2024 will look like. Last year was a bit strange as I had a health issue which, while not super serious, made it difficult for me to spend a lot of time sitting in front of my computer. It also really took the wind out of my sails, and I found myself lacking in energy and concentration. I was able to get enough work done to keep ticking over, but it was, in short, a drag. Everything felt slow and harder to achieve.

The good news is that at the end of the year my health improved a lot, and not coincidentally, my foggy fatigue lifted too. So I’m feeling sharper, and looking forward to a more productive 2024, however that shapes up. I’ve been working on how I present myself as a freelancer, starting with an ongoing and long-needed overhaul of my website. I’m thinking about how I use social media platforms like this one in a more productive way. I’m considering how I can upskill in certain areas that will be useful. Essentially, I’m considering what kind of professional I want to be, and how I can use blogging and posts like this to reflect on how to get there. I’ll share some more specific thoughts on these areas with you soon, it’s part of the process 😉

In the meantime, in case you don’t know much about me, let me reintroduce myself. I’m a materials writer, teacher trainer, project manager, and podcast producer. I can be found writing materials for a variety of publishers and schools, producing podcasts like TEFL Commute and Meet The PhDs, coordinating IATEFL TDSIG and BRAZ-TESOL MaWSIG, managing projects for Active English, overseeing Raise Up!, and presenting at conferences. See you around!
